Limitless Artistry & Vocal Freedom

by | Mar 29, 2023 | Artist Development for Singers, Primal Soul Voice Work™

Welcome!

My name’s Jen May, and I’m the founder of Expressive Voicework™. I would love to support you to free your singing voice and your innate artistry and musicality so you can step into your unique creative flow and live a life of total freedom of expression. I would love to be your accomplice on this beautiful, sacred journey.

Embracing Individuality

This is an opportunity for the complete individuality of every person to be deeply honoured. I’ve worked with thousands of people over the past 20 years, singers and non-singers, including artists on all the major labels for film and TV. I share this so you know you’re in safe hands. Everyone comes with the same desire: to express their true voice in their own unique way.

Your Sacred Voice

I want you to know that you’re absolutely welcome here, that I believe your voice is sacred and beautiful, and that when it’s grounded in your truth, it’s beyond comparison.

It truly breaks my heart to think of the fear and feelings of “not-good-enough-ness” I suffered over the years with my voice when I was born to sing and live freely as an artist, totally by my own rules, following my own wild heart.

A Realisation of Freedom

It wasn’t until I realised that my voice was God-given (or the product of generations of my family, if you prefer) and that it wasn’t for me to evaluate but instead to honour without ego, in total humility, that I was able to let my voice be free. And that’s what I want for you too.

The Joy of Creative Expression

I would love you to deeply feel into how it would be to sing, write, play, and create as freely and wildly as the wind. To feel alive and aligned in every cell of your being.

Introducing Expressive Voicework™

Expressive Voicework™, is multidimensional: physical, technical, emotional, and spiritual, drawing together five elements. You might be interested in just one element or all five. Every journey is different.

1. Primal Soul Voicework

A ritual of being utterly present with what’s alive in you, opening up to the moment and letting your soul sing. This makes you mesmerising.

2. Technical Vocal Mastery

Exercises to expand your voice—its power, range, and flexibility—so that there are no barriers to your freedom of expression.

3. Artistry Coaching

This helps you know yourself deeply. It’s what gives you strength and fearlessness, deeply honouring your unique voice and your unique way of working.

4. Songwriting and Musicality Skills

You’ll learn to write songs and play an instrument to accompany yourself from day one if this is of interest to you.

5. Self Expression and Confidence Work

This is wide-ranging and draws upon many disciplines that open you up and integrate you into your fullness.

The Journey to Self-Acceptance

We’ve really been conditioned to silence ourselves, to control ourselves, to not tell the truth, and to compare ourselves. But how about total self-acceptance? Self-love? How about seeing the sacred in every moment? How about being present for your beautiful life? How about no longer silencing yourself?

You don’t need to be anything else or anyone else; your magic is in being you, just as it was for every single artist you’ve ever loved.

A Safe Space for Growth

That’s what I’m interested in: your voice, your humanity, your story, your truth, your magic, and in creating a safe space for that to flourish and evolve. I aim to provide you with the support you need to be free.

Let’s Connect

I can’t wait to witness your voice, your musicality, your artistry, and your true nature emerging and expanding so gently and naturally, as it was always meant to be. Reach out to let me know how I can support you.

“Nature loves courage. You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under, it will lift you up. This is the trick. This is what all these teachers and philosophers who really counted, who really touched the alchemical gold, this is what they understood. This is the shamanic dance in the waterfall. This is how magic is done. By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering it’s a feather bed.”   ― Terence McKenna

Welcome to my space for singers and artists — a place to explore the voice, creativity, and the deeper layers of expression.
I write from my perspective as a vocal coach and artist-development mentor, sharing ideas, techniques, and reflections from inside the work.

If something here moves you, provokes you, or opens a door for your singing, you’re always welcome to reach out.
