“To be an artist is to believe in life,”
Henry Moore
Embracing the Identity of an Artist
Many people feel unsure about calling themselves an ‘artist,’ but for me, it’s a beautiful word that embodies a diverse range of expressions while still holding meaningful significance for others. An artist is born with a unique soul, inclined towards connection and expression, regardless of whether they have created anything tangible. This innate drive is both beautiful and valuable, albeit somewhat challenging.
Common Traits of Artists
While the term ‘artist’ encompasses a vast group, there are certain commonalities that often benefit from the support of a coach. Artists frequently possess high degrees of sensitivity and empathy, coupled with a subconscious drive to make sense of the world. They tend to question not only their surroundings but also their own identities. These traits can be challenging to navigate, and my goal is to support anyone who feels this calling.
The Role of Artists in Society
An artist plays an equally important role in society as any other profession—be it teacher, baker, or candlestick maker. Artists express what it means to be human. They remind us that we are okay, help us celebrate our lives, and demonstrate that we are not alone. Even when creating solely for themselves, artists engage in self-healing and self-acceptance through their craft.
Finding Worthiness in Creativity
Unfortunately, many individuals struggle with feelings of unworthiness when it comes to creating art. They may believe they lack the necessary skills or feel that it’s too late to start their artistic journey. Others may abandon their creative calling when they do not achieve the ‘success’ that society deems worthy. Often, this disconnection leads to a part of them fading away.
Encouragement to Embrace Your Artistic Journey
I would love to encourage anyone who feels called to pick up the mantle of vocal, musical and singing artistry. You cannot know what will come from it; life is a beautiful mystery. Follow your heart and see where it leads you.
